Our Easy MyKad Reader Lite 3.0 is a very popular download available on our site. These are some of the smart card readers our MyKad Reader has been tested with. We also bring you some test results from our software.

The units pictured are all USB 2.0 and PC/SC compliant and work well with our Easy MyKad Reader Software. All units also have been tested with the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system. We measured the average read time for MyKad. The fastest was the unit was the Castle EZ100PU. This unit always gave a consistent time of about 9.15sec each time the read MyKad button was pressed.

The first unit we bought was the ROCKEY model.  This unit cost us about RM110 including courier charges. This is the  unit that we used to develop the MyKad Reader software initially. It is a good  performer. But of the three units, it is also the slowest with an  average read time of 12.41sec to read Mykad data and photo.

Maximum card insertions is 100,000. The unit works with our Easy MyKad Reader software under Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7.

Our next unit is one from Stanley Global Technologies. I tested this unit using Windows 7. It required no driver installation. Works with a Generic Smart Card driver. A thin sleek looking device. Also rated at 100,000 insertions. This unit gave an average time of 10.68sec to read the MyKad data and photo. Includes a driver CD for other opeating systems including Mac and Linux.

Our final unit is the one from Castle. Model EZ100PU. This is the fastest our of the three units tested. This unit gave a consistent read time of 9.15sec to read the MyKad data and photo. The company has rated this Smart Card Reader for 200,000 times inserts. Double the other units.

The driver installation is straight forward. One feature we liked about the driver installation is that the driver software check that all the necessary services are on and working in your computer system to start reading Smart Cards or MyKad Data. This make it easy to troubleshoot problem.

The unit is larger than the others, but feels robust. We were very impressed with the speed and simplicity of this unit. We include this as a bundle with our MyKad Reading Software.
