565,157: Possible change to legal system to cut down on number

GEORGE TOWN: MORE than 500,000 identity cards were reported lost or stolen as of Oct 31 this year, and it is likely that some of them may have fallen into the hands of irresponsible individuals or foreigners.
Deputy Home Minister Datuk Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar told the Dewan Rakyat it was possible that the 565,157 lost or stolen MyKad were sold to syndicates, who in turn sold them to foreigners.
